This just in! TEMPTED BY BLOOD (Sweetblood series) won the NERFA for Paranormal and Futuristic Romance! Woot woot! I’m so totally thrilled! This is Jackson’s story, which means that bad boy vampires really do come out on top. 🙂 Also, ASSASSIN’S TOUCH (Iron Portal series) placed third in the Romance Novella category!
What makes this contest extra special is that first round, where the finalists are chosen, is judged by readers. The final round is judged by booksellers and librarians.
TEMPTED BY BLOOD is the same book that a reader came up to me at the recent RT Convention in Kansas City, thinking it was the first book in the Sweetblood series, only to be shocked to find out it was actually the third. As an author, I work very hard to make sure each book stands on its own, that a reader can pick up any of the books in a series and enjoy it without having read the others. (Of course, I love it when they then go back and read the rest of the series.) I’m thrilled that the book’s “thirdness” wasn’t obvious.
